ALTERED
STATES FOR GRACE
Transform and Expand your Aliveness and Gratitude
(A Weekend Retreat)
Friday, November 6 - Sunday, November 8, 2009
Easton Mountain Retreat Center, Greenwich, NY
Do you want to feel more
Alive?
More Connected to others and to the Spirit of Life?
More Loving of yourself or others?
More Grateful for what you already have in Life?
We all have a not-so-secret desire:
to feel really alive, connected, loving and joy-full. Not everyone
realizes it, but deep down inside is a "want," a "calling"
to know and express one's self more fully, and to keep expanding,
growing. And perhaps ultimately a calling to feel grace –
a state of gratitude for being alive.
Altered, or non-ordinary states of
consciousness can help us step out of our normal way of thinking
and being. From a new perspective, we can gain insights about how
we are living, how we want to live, inspirations for steps to take
to get there, and gratitude for what we already have.
This weekend will be filled with opportunities
for all-natural, "substance-free" non-ordinary states
of consciousness. "Consciousness" will be considered to
be composed of the physical body, emotions, intellect, spirit and
community. And so we will experience non-ordinary states in each
of these, many in ways that will be easily reproducible for you
at home. Sensory meditations, conscious breathwork, shared touch
and energy work, and active yoga are just some of the techniques
we’ll use. Some will be familiar, like yoga, but with a twist.
And we'll definitely take advantage of the beauty of Easton in the
fall - as well as the intentional community of supportive seekers
that we will build together.
A solid structure of intention-setting,
releasing old perspectives, envisioning new ones, debriefing, and
planning next steps will ground our non-ordinary states. You will
have opportunities to more clearly understand the insights and inspirations
produced during our experiences, as their application in daily life.
So come with a journal and a desire to expand and/or transform one
area of your life.
More Breath, More Life, More
Love!
Conscious Breathwork for Healing & Transformation
Breathing is the source of our
most important nutrient and energizer - oxygen! Yet most adults
learn to hold our breath, also holding in our body emotional and
mental blocks to living fully. Conscious breathing unlocks these
blocks, inspiring us and helping us to feel lighter, more open and
empowered for transformational action. Additional benefits include
greater: self-awareness; capacity to deal with stress; sense of
well-being; physical energy and emotional balance. Come learn how
to take a full, healthy breath - and practices you can use daily
to re-center yourself, feel balance and wholeness. And you'll experience
a long breathing session that often changes your state of consciousness,
opening you to guidance, compassion, and gratitude for being alive.
Choose one session or come to several to meet new people. Each breathing
experience is different, and each session will have a different
theme! Bring a towel, mat or something to lie on.
Body Wisdom: An
Introduction to Intentional Touch, Massage, and Appreciating Your
Body (A Weekend Retreat)
Give your body the gift of appreciation
this summer. Body Wisdom is a great opportunity to connect more
deeply with our bodies and our intuitive sense of how to enjoy caring
for them.
In this introductory weekend, we will
experiment with different techniques and approaches to the art of
touch. Explore yoga, breathwork, meditation, intentional touch,
massage, and energy work. We will learn some basic skills, increase
our confidence, explore the role of intuition in caring for ourselves
and others – and have fun! We will also discover how these
techniques can help us deepen our personal mind-body connection.
All of this will help us access our own body wisdom as a source
of energy that we can draw upon to center ourselves and provide
healing touch for others.
A Meta Meeting of Loving Kindness:
Experiencing and Increasing Compassion for Ourselves and Others
(a one-evening workshop)
PRACTICING PRESENCE
Awakening Connection to Self & Spirit
(A weekend retreat)
We all have unique ways of connecting
with our experience of the divine – of reconnecting to peace
with “what is” in the present moment. Spend the weekend
in a supportive community as we journey together into a variety
of opportunities for re-membering more of who we are, and how the
spirit lives within and through us.
As the daylight wanes, this is a perfect
time to explore a gentle meaning of "shadow" and honor
aspects of ourselves that we were taught to hide.
Spiritual practices from various traditions
will be our guide – with a focus on the personal experience
offered to us through the practice, rather than any particular religious
teachings. Enjoy going deeper into a familiar practice, or experimenting
with new ones. We’ll talk about the value of spiritual practice,
how to create one that’s meaningful to you, and we’ll
review basic sitting meditation suggestions. But practices will
also get us walking, dancing, journaling, chanting, and creating
– all different ways to reconnect to ourselves and Spirit.
All are welcome to this weekend community, people of all faiths
and levels of spiritual practice.
SILENT MEDITATION RETREAT
(A weekend retreat)
Spend this weekend in silence in a
group setting (including mealtimes). After an opening circle of
introductions and intention setting, individuals use this time in
community to focus on their spiritual journey and their relationship
with the Divine Oneness. A gentle, loving, inner peace awaits you
in this experience of present time. This retreat may include time
with a spiritual guide who serves as a witness and friend. There
will be scheduled times of meditation as well as periods of relaxation
and rest in a quiet, rural setting where in teh Stillness everything
exists.
Transformational Inspiration:
A Yoga & Breathwork Intensive
(3-hour workshop)
Take your practice to the next
level while empowering and reclaiming your life using the power
of conscious breathing. Set an intention for change in your life
and open yourself to the inspiration and creativity that will come
from yoga and continuous breathing.
During this workshop Bob and Don will
help you with setting an intention for change, connecting yourself
to movement with vinyasa yoga, and guide you through a transformational
session of continuous breathwork.
This afternoon intensive will get you
moving from head to toe and inside out - leaving you with more physical
energy and emotional balance as well as having expanded your personal
awareness and your gratitude for life.
All experience levels are welcome.
